Apparently, dabeli was invented by Keshavji Gabha Chudasma in the port town of Mandvi, in Kutch, sometime in the 1960s.Given that this is India and we’re talking about a street snack, we get this information via oral history only. However, what we do know for a fact is that dabeli quickly became popular beyond Kutch and is now found pretty much all over western and north India. And if you’ve ever had one, you’ll know why. A well-made dabeli will be bursting with flavours, thanks to all the chutneys, butter and the special dabeli masala. It will have many contrasting textures, from the softness of mashed potatoes, to the juiciness of fresh pomegranate seeds, to the crunch of peanuts and sev.

Dabeli today is famous not only in Kutch and Gujarat but also throughout Maharashtra, parts of Telangana, Karnataka, Rajasthan and many other States of India .Dabeli stalls can be found in metropolitan cities like Ahmedabad ,Mumbai,Pune, Nagpur, Nasik, Indore, Bopal, etc besides all major cites ,towns and tourist spots of Gujarat. Other common name for Kutchi Dabeli are Kutchi burger or Desi burger and Kutchi double roti or “Kacchi Dabeli”.

When some foreigner knows about it and if they visit Gujarat they definitely try it and they become it’s lover and never forgot it’s tangy taste. They become crazy for this street food. In Gujarat mostly people like this snack for their little hunger.
